SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

Ernest McGlothan has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from Tuskegee University. He has over fifty years of background and experience in architecture, construction, estimating, insurance adjusting and construction project management.

Steel City Services, LLC, was founded in 1991, previously Mac-Pon Company, Inc., General Contractors. Over a period of 20 years the company was successful in constructing several new church facilities, new commercial buildings and major renovations of commercial properties throughout the State of Alabama.

Since 2003, Mr. McGlothan's focus has been dedicated to K-12 Schools where his role as Owner's Representative includes:

  • Project management of various City of Birmingham projects.
  • Project management of K-12 educational facilities.
  • Review of architectural contracts.
  • Review of construction contracts.
  • Preparation of projects programs for design.
  • Management of schematic design, critique per owners design program & specifications.
  • Management of design development and critique development of design.
  • Management of contract documents, access constructability reviews, conduct bid-ability reviews, coordinate approvals of state and local agencies and review contract documents.
  • Management of bid process, coordinate bid services to include pre-qualifications of contractors, assist in the bid procedure, review and assist in the award of construction contracts, and conduct value engineering as required.
  • Construction Management of project, provide total project administration and reporting, maintain budget, project schedule, oversee project meetings, inspect quality and quantity of construction, cost control monitoring and approve application for payment from general contractor and coordinate close-out of project.
  • Assistance with obtaining a final Certificate of Occupancy.
  • Warranty Period: Document and report all items under warranty that fails to perform as designed  or constructed for one (1) year after substantial completion and coordinate correction of same.

Talladega College

The services provided include management, planning and coordination of the 50,000 S.F. Restoration/Renovation in accordance with guidelines set forth by the National Park Service U.S. Department of the Interior. The scope of work includes asbestos abatement, window replacement, roof replacement, brick pointing and exterior repairs in exterior package.

  • New church facility with a seating capacity of 1,500. Auditorium and support facilities consisting of 36,400 square feet.

First Baptist Church Ensley, Birmingham, Alabama

  • New church facility with a seating capacity of 1,500 consisting of approximately 26,500 square feet, including support facilities.

First Baptist Church Fairfield, Birmingham, Alabama

Village Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant, Birmingham, Alabama

  • As subcontractor under Titan Southeast, Inc., we constructed eighteen (18) buildings on this project to include administrative building with laboratories, screw pump stations, garage building, maintenance building and all other support buildings at this facility.
